This is a sycamore. Sycamore trees often have scaly bark like this. Most of the time, this bark flakes off leaving the more smooth mottled look that you guys are refering to. I see them all the time with part of the tree smooth and part scaly.

the bark of this tree does not appear to be that of a sycamore tree but I am not an expert. please comment.

I run a 28" bar most of the time and for me it is about perfect. And as mweba1 said, it doesn't hurt the bar at all.

@mweba1 that's it! But.. Why using a McCulloch for a job like this? :D
Написал: Logjam5, 02.02.2012, 02:58

Get some more sawyers on the job!
Написал: Gabriele Santin, 24.02.2012, 17:17

@mweba1 Listen @ 4:30, that saw is revving high, it should have less rpm and do the 4 strokes! Probably it's not well carburated or there is an air leak somewhere!

Who did the mod work? I just bought a 3120 off craigs and am interested in getting the muffler done etc. I'm very impressed with how nice yours sounds. It just really runs nice and crisp all the way to the top of the rpm range. I'm sure the mods you did really helped the top end power rev higher and harder. Thanks for the great vid.

@hookuspookus529 you don't need that crap.. what you need to do is learn to file teeth AND rakers properly.. the chain is what cuts, the saw just pulls the chain.

could watch this all day!
Написал: John Doe, 18.11.2012, 05:03

What if I put a 20" bar on one of these saws for cutting up smaller stuff? That would burn the bar up, wouldn't it? What else would happen to the saw?
Написал: Josh Carmack, 16.12.2012, 07:33

You are correct, the chain would revolve around the bar more times per minute, BUT the FPM of the chain would not change, and a shorter bar would have excess oil, as the oil would have much less distance to travel and less surface area for the same volume of oil

that's music!
